<div itemprop="description">Waltraut Riedel-Baun (Wally) née (Böehmler)<br><br>Waltraut Riedel-Baun (Wally) née (Böehmler) beloved Mom and Oma passed away peacefully at 88 years of age on February 16, 2017, with her family by her side. <br><br>She will always be remembered by her son Wolfgang and daughter-in-law Valerie, granddaughter Kirsten Copeland with spouse James and great grandchildren Liam and Colby, grandson Kevin Baun with spouse Cristal and great grandchildren Grace and Joshua. <br><br>Mom was born and educated in Stuttgart Germany. Choosing Nursing as her profession, she successfully completed her nursing studies at the University of Tübingen, Germany, where she graduated as the youngest nurse in the top of her class. She resided there until 1958, when she and Wolfgang came to Canada. As her nursing diploma was not accepted here, she continued her studies to attain her certification as a Registered Nurse. Waltraut worked at Health Sciences Center both as a nurse and head nurse concluding her career in orthopedics in 1992.<br><br>She loved to travel, returning to Stuttgart several times to stay in touch with friends, while also traveling more broadly.<br><br>Waltraut (Wally) had a large circle of friends that were always there for her, and the family would like to thank them for their kindness and support. She was very blessed to have them in her life. <br><br>Waltraut was a very talented person. There was not a sweater or afghan she could not make. Besides knitting and crocheting, she had many other interests. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies and learning activities including; stain glass, porcelain doll making and learning Hebrew. The theatre, ballet and symphony were also among her favorites. <br><br>The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital and especially the team in the ICU for all the care that they gave our Oma and Mom. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice. A celebration of her life will take place at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017.<br><br></div>
