Sydney Nathaniel Smith
September 30, 1939 - February 16, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Sydney Nathaniel Smith at Grace Hospice with family by his side on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 9:15 a.m., at the age of 77 years.
Sydney will be remembered by his four children, seventeen grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, significant other, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Sydney was born in Hopewell, Westmoreland, Jamaica on September 30, 1939 to Charlotte and Joseph Smith. He was the youngest of seven.
Sydney was a bus driver for the greater Manchester Transport from 1966 to 1978 in England and emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1979. He began a fulfilling career at Palliser Furniture in 1980 and retired in the early 2000’s.
Sydney was a well-known member of the community and was well loved. He will be remembered as a proud, hard working, kind man who touched the lives of many. Sydney will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Winnipeg on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., across from the MTS Centre on Donald and Graham.
