<div itemprop="description">It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of Calvin Hill on April 24, 2016 at Maples Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, from complications due to a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan, July 13 1930. Youngest of 6 children born to Roland Hill of Grand Valley, Ontario, and Amelia Clayton of Port Hope, Ontario, homesteading in Medstead, Saskatchewan. Calvin was raised by his uncle Fred T. Hill and aunt Nancye Hill in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, and joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at age 18. He served in a variety of postings in Alberta and Ontario, and became an expert in criminal intelligence and combating organized crime. “Clem” Hill was attached to the US Department of Justice Organized Crime Strike Forces assembled by Robert F. Kennedy in the 1960’s. He retired from the Force at the rank of Staff Sergeant with 22 years’ service and became CEO of Intertel Ltd., a subsidiary of Resorts International specializing in corporate security and defending private sector organizations from penetration by criminal elements. Calvin retired to his home by Lake Huron in Kincardine, Ontario, and later to Winnipeg, Manitoba to be closer to his family. He was active in the Lions Club and the RCMP Veterans Association, and received many honours from those organizations. Calvin suffered from chronic leukemia, heart disease, colon and bladder cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease for many years, and is now at rest. <br> <br>He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Rose Thompson of Windsor, Ontario, his son David Calvin Hill and daughter in law Donna (MacLeod) Hill of Water Valley, Alberta; beloved grandchildren Katherine, Nancy and Alec Hill; daughter Dr. Janice Margaret Hill and partner Ray Gorzynski of Toronto, Ontario, and son Mark Frederick Hill and daughter in law Mary Ann of Winnipeg, Manitoba; his sister Eileen Elizabeth (Hill) Hall of Thunder Bay, Ontario; his nieces Megan Murray of London, Ontario, Wendy Perkins of Keswick, Ontario, and Donna Hill of Calgary; nephews Grant Hall of Thunder Bay, Terrel Hill of Medstead, Saskatchewan, Bob Hill of Cold Lake, Alberta; his cousins Terry and Fred Hill of Riverhurst; and many grand nieces and nephews. <br> <br></div>
