<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness our family announces the peaceful passing of Norman at the age of 83 years at the Victoria General Hospital with family at his side on Thursday, October 20, 2016. <br> <br>Norman was born October 18, 1933 in Dinsmore, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Eric and Signa Edstrom, his twin sister Norma, brothers Earl and Royce (Ann), his first wife Dawn Edstrom and son-in-law Michael Cohen. <br> <br>Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lorna of 39 years, daughter Sandra Cohen of Oshawa, ON, son Derek (Marie) Edstrom of Gatineau, PQ; adoring papa to Dawn Cohen of Alliston, ON, Shelby Cohen of Oshawa, ON, Nathan and Marc André Doucet-Edstrom of Gatineau, PQ, Casen and Alexandra Edstrom of Gatinequ, PQ; sisters-in-law Pamela MacCormack of Ottawa, Virginia Edstrom of Asquith, Saskatchewan, and many nieces and nephews in SK. <br> <br>Norman was a veteran of the RCAF, a longtime employee of UNYSIS (Ottawa) until his retirement and a 52 year member of the legion, recently of Branch 252 Osborne South. <br> <br>Norman and Lorna were world travelers and Norman remained very active with his favourite sports; curling at the Fort Garry Curling Club and golfing at the Canoe Club Golf Course with his buddies of many years. Norman was also a condo board member at the Royal Edgewater for 20 years as Maintenance Manager. If someone needed help, however insignificant, he was always there. <br> <br>A celebration of Norman’s life is to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. <br> <br>A heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff for the excellent and compassionate care given to Norman during his stay at the Victoria General Hospital. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, a donation to CancerCare MB, The Stroke Recovery Association of MB or Churchill Park United Church would be appreciated. <br> <br></div>
