With broken hearts the family announces the passing of Nick after his lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on October 28, 2016. Nick is survived by his wife Jennifer, James and Eva Harding (mother and father), Bernadette Zaporzan (sister), Teresa and Rolf Wittig (sister and brother-in-law) and many loving nephews and nieces and extended family who will honour and cherish his memory. He will also be greatly missed by his loyal dog Duncan who provided comfort and many smiles during Nick’s fight.
Nicholas was born on August 29, 1961 in Reading, England and moved to Canada with his family in 1973. In 1997, Nick married Jennifer, the love of his life. They enjoyed 21 amazing years together. In the last several years, Nick worked as a department supervisor at Home Depot (Kenaston) with a fantastic crew. Home Depot showed incredible support to Nick and Jenn throughout his fight, for which he was so grateful. Nick also enjoyed a lengthy career in the automotive industry with a few different dealerships but lastly as a Fleet and Sales Manager with Eastern Chrysler. Nick also spent time as a mortgage broker with the Invis Team. He received recognition from employees and customers everywhere he worked. Nick was loved by all who had the opportunity to get to know him. Nick’s hobbies included old cars, fishing, golfing, woodworking, camping and enjoying nature. His passions were gardening and cooking. His British humour and zest for life will be greatly missed. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, son, brother and uncle to share our lives with.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and support given by the WHRA homecare and palliative care nurses as well as the entire palliative team on the 8th floor at St. Boniface Hospital. Your care and respect for Nick was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s name to the Never Alone Foundation. A celebration of his life will take place at Glen Lawn funeral homes at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd on November 3rd, 2016 at 2pm.
