LOVE YOU, GOODNIGHT, GOD BLESS, KEEP SAFE ALWAYS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mum, Grandma and Friend. Peacefully with family and friends by her side Myra passed away at the Parkview Place Care Centre, on September 28, 2013 at the age of 77 years.
Myra was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Smith and Sister Elizabeth (Liz) McCulloch.
Myra will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, James (Jim) O’Brien, son Robert O’Brien (Margaret), grandchildren Caitlyn and Duncan as well as many other friends & family who shared their lives with her.
Mum was born in Dumfries, Scotland and came to Canada when she was 16 years old. Her jobs consisted of mostly clerical work including a position with the Manitoba Cancer Foundation at the Health Science Centre. Myra and Jim were married on September 12, 1959 and lived on Bannerman Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba most of their married life. Here they raised their son and later entertained their grandchildren. Myra was a devoted mother and wonderful grandmother. In her early years Myra loved swimming, weekends at the lake and traveling to Scotland. Myra’s Scottish heritage was important to her and she raised her family with the same engrained morals and traditions.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the second floor Parkview Place Care Centre staff for the kindness, compassion and support they provided over the last seven months.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Myra to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
