It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Denman on October 19, 2016. He was predeceased by his wife Jacky, the love of his life, in 2014. He leaves behind four children: Tracey (Peter Friesen), Mandy (Darren Kashton), Stuart, Ryan (Connie); eleven grandchildren: Alannah, Nicholas, Mallory and Isabelle Friesen, Holly and Rachel Kashton, Ewan and Abby Denman, Ronin, Lucian and Arya Denman; his sisters and brothers: Bubbles (Tony), John, Graham, Jean, Janet, Laurel and Reggie, in-laws Janet (Tony), Alan (Joyce), Peter, Olive; special friends Pat and Willie Wilson and numerous other family and friends in England, Canada and Australia. He was predeceased by his parents, parent in-laws, one sister and four brother in-laws.

Harry was born on May 11, 1942 in Worthing, Sussex, England. He married Jacky in 1965 and they immigrated as a family to Canada in 1976. He cherished his friendships and loved his family. Harry always had a way with children and dogs and was known for his dry sense of humour, love of music, cars and sports, especially the Manchester United Football Club and the Winnipeg Jets. He loved to travel, visiting family and friends in other countries or simply going on an adventure. Harry was the life of the party with his sharp wit, singing, whistling and dancing, whether it was on a bus heading on a road trip or to a sports tournament, at a social, at work or just at home with friends and family.

Harry spent many years working in the automotive industry until he had to make a career change in his early fifties due to medical reasons. He went back to school, obtaining his high school diploma and a degree at Red River Community College. He went on to work for Macdonald Youth Services, helping with troubled youth and making a difference, which he loved. Unfortunately, continued health problems led to an early retirement.

We would like to thank the friends and family that continued to visit Harry. Thank you also to the staff at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre and the River East Personal Care Home for their compassion, care and support.

Harry will be missed but we are so glad that he can now enjoy the freedom to sing and dance once again with his beloved wife Jacky.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harry’s memory to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, the CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of your choice.
