Gord will be greatly missed by Joan (nee Brickell), his wife of 58 years and his two sons Brian (Shannon) and Michael.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Gertrude Charles as well as his brother Bill and sister Kathleen. Gord grew up in the Fort Rouge area and attended school at Riverview and Lord Roberts Schools. He moved to Charleswood after marrying Joan in 1958 and together they lived in the house that they built together until they moved to St. Vital in 1980. Gord worked as a gasfitter and sheet metal fabricator as a young man and then worked as a maintenance man for Powell Equipment until his retirement in 1994 . He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a great passion for sailing, making many trips up and down Lake Winnipeg in his sailboat, “Renegade”.

In addition to his wife and two sons, Gord is survived by three grandchildren, Daniel (Shonda), Timothy and Jeffrey as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their care of Gord during his stay there.
