Gloria Mieyette
August 17, 1954 - March 5, 2017
On the evening of Sunday March 5, after being surrounded by her loved ones all day, Gloria Phyllis Mieyette (nee Gauthier) passed away in her sleep at the Victoria Hospital.
Gloria was survived by her husband Paul, her sons Paul Fontaine (Anne) and Andy Mieyette, and her daughter Melinda Mieyette. She leaves behind six wonderful grandchildren--Paul Fontaine Jr, Aleecia Fontaine (Felix Doyle), John Fieber, Breanna Fieber, Sidney Butler, Emily Mieyette, and one great-grandchild--Liam Patrick Guy Fontaine Doyle.
She also leaves behind her mother Lenore Gauthier and sisters--Dallas Turner, Betty Marchessault, Kathy Paul (Robert), Bonnie Hooley (Jerry) and Darlene Schacht (Michael).
Gloria was short in stature but full of life. Like Billy Joel’s Piano Man, she was “quick with a joke or a light of your smoke”. Gloria loved camping and fishing. and had a great appreciation for music. She made many friends over the years and was someone who made an impact on everyone she met.
Whether it was her days as a waitress or a bus driver, Gloria loved working with the public. Her co-workers, customers, and the students she served enjoyed being around her.
Gloria was a born-again Christian, and will now join her father Andrew Gauthier and brothers-in-law Wayne and Val at home with her saviour, Jesus Christ.
The family will hold a celebration of life at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Immanuel Pentecostal Church 955 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B8.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association
