In loving memory of Frank Baker, who passed away suddenly on March 1st 2017, in his home at Concordia Place, at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his mother Edith, Father Charles, Sister Zelie Player and Brother Neil.

Frank will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years Doreen (nee Sutherland), his children Marie Delisle (Denis), Doug (Dawn), Rod (Paula) and Steve (Kim); his eight grandchildren Kevin (Sheri), Dayna Green (Jonathan), Lindsay, Stephen (Cindy), Erin Moser (Jordan), Kaitlin, Heather Harrison (Richard)and Jordan; his 3 beautiful great-grandchildren Kylie, Sebastian and Lucas; his brothers Bob and Gerry along with countless other extended family members and friends.

Frank was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on August 27th, 1925. He was married shortly after serving his country in World War II, just short of his 21st birthday. A Canadian Pacific Railway man for almost 45 years Frank started as a clerk, finishing his career as Assistant to the Vice President of Prairie Region in 1985. Although there were many career accomplishments throughout his life, Frank’s main focus was his family. His generosity, compassion, selflessness and love were always present.

There is a song that was often sung around the Baker house that contained the line “To know me is to love me, I must be a hell of a man”. Although the song was sung in jest, no truer words were ever spoken. If you knew Frank Baker, you loved Frank Baker.

“Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened”

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 14 at 1 pm in the chapel on the main floor at Concordia Place, 1000 Molson Avenue.

A special thanks to all the thoughtful and supportive staff of Concordia Place for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MS, Cancer or Arthritis Societies.
